Rig Manager

Company and project description:

Our Client is a privately owned company established in Singapore project management and supervision services during construction, conversion, upgrades and repairs of offshore drilling units. It has been an active player in the recent rig new-build boom, helping investors to gain returns on their assets by providing industrial expertise

Scope of work:

To obtain knowledge about procedures and instructions applicable to the work and to ensure work is performed in compliance with these procedures.
For the safe and correct execution of the instructions given.
To report all hazards, unsafe conditions and near misses observed and to intervene immediately to prevent any accident when another person is found to be exposed to imminent danger.
For all aspects of rig management for assigned rig, safety of people and management of rig assets in accordance with Company’s core processes, performance and maintenance standards ensuring effective operation in compliance with company, contractual and regulatory requirements.

The Rig Manager has the authority and the obligation to call a time-out for safety or stop work in any situation, or activity that, if not terminated or mitigated, could reasonably be expected to result in injury, loss of life, fire/explosion, major pollution or serious equipment damage.

Responsible for key decision making with regard to rig operations e.g. downtime/re-start operations based on evaluation of circumstances
Ensure rig is in compliance with Regulatory, Class and Flag state certification requirements Maintaining rig operational records to ensure Regulatory, Class and Flag state is maintained.
Ensure all rig operations are carried out in compliance with Company policies and procedures
Actively contribute to all management and operational meetings
Manage change effectively
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with client personnel, ensuring effective operational performance and enhance new business opportunities
Liaise with appropriate regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with legislative and industry requirements
Review and monitor well construction process to assure proposed well design is executed in accordance with Company’s requirements e.g. Well Control Manual, Operations Manual etc. Provide technical solutions as required
Ensure Quality Feedback process is consistently used both onshore and offshore to improve safety, operational and overall performance.
Conduct regular rig visits.

Ensure rig manning levels are maintained at appropriate level to support operation
Ensure compliance with company’s Training Matrix and Competency Assurance standards
Ensure people development, performance and succession planning is established for all rig based personnel, Assistant Rig Manager and Operations Engineer when in place.
Provide visible Leadership and serve as role model to company employees
Mentor, coach and develop employees in meeting company expectations
Ensure rig crews’ competences are developed and maintained
Develop and maintain own competence

Previous Experience as a Rig Manager overseeing the operation and budget of a Deep Water Cyber base Drilling Installation
Experience of working with Client’s operating policies and procedures, liaising with client representatives in matters relating to the drilling program.
Fully acquainted with the characteristics, capabilities and limitations of a drilling installation, and have thorough knowledge of the organization and actions to be taken in case of an emergency.
IT Skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Star-IPS, etc. Strong IT Skills with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, with ability to provide remote assistance
Able to demonstrate a general knowledge of the equipment, personnel and operating practices associated with an offshore operation, and an ability to make sound decisions, particularly in stressful situations.
